The Seal Beach Japan America Kite Festival is a joint venture of the Up Up and Away Kite Club, the Up Up and Away Kite Store, and the Japan America Society.
The date is Sunday October 20, 2013 at the Seal Beach Pier, Seal Beach, Ca.
This is a full day of fun with kite flying demos (team and solo), kite making for the kids, tail grabs, show kites, candy drops, Taiko Drummers, raffle, a Master Japanese Kite Builder, martial art demos, and on and on.
What it maybe isn’t is a great time for you to fly kites. Well, there is plenty of room for single line stuff. And if you move down the beach, room for sport kites. The demo field has a full schedule all day so if you aren’t a featured flyer that is out.
With that in mind it still is a full day of fun and my wife and I attend every year we possibly can. If you have never been it is worth at least one trip to check it out.
All the RED STUFF is the opinion of the webapprentice, there are probably others. Just wanted to make sure you know what to expect before making the trip to Seal Beach.
The Official Kite Festival Webpage is HERE. It has the usual stuff: schedule, map, etc
As of today, Sept 17, it still has last years info but I wouldnt expect it to change greatly.
Hope to see you there!!
