We are providing many club member volunteers to help setup the field, assist with fun activities throughout the day and providing helping hands for breaking down the event.

4th & 5th – The San Diego Kite Club has 2 more pending events worth hearing about because they affect our club as a whole.

Destination Concepts Inc. at The Hotel Del Coronado — We secured the job, and it’s a big win for the club. The San Diego Kite Club continues to build strong momentum by turning a shared passion for kite flying into meaningful fundraising that supports our future. A small group of members will deliver a professional performance over three nights, generating over $6,650 for the club. Performers are generously volunteering their time, with compensation provided to support their participation and ensure a high-quality presentation.

This success reflects a true team effort, powered by dedicated volunteers and talented pilots. It’s also the result of consistent behind-the-scenes work to create these opportunities, with Ziggy playing a key role in building connections and maintaining that momentum.

Ziggy has coordinated the performance team through months of planning, ensuring a high level of professionalism throughout. He has also expanded the opportunity by facilitating partnerships that create added value for those involved.

Through these efforts, Revolution will produce 10 custom kites for the three-day event, while José Sainz has been contracted to design and build a custom Rokkaku advertising piece. These collaborations strengthen the overall presentation while creating additional revenue opportunities and professional exposure for members of the San Diego Kite Club, resulting in a mutually beneficial outcome for both the club and the broader kite community.

Flying performance team:

Quad Line 6 Stack — Don Fox (Region 12 Director of the AKA and club treasurer)
Quad Line 4-man Team — Scott Weider (Team Captain and leader) / Joe Hadzicki (The Inventor) / Mark Quirmbach (O’side badass and competitive flyer) / Ziggy (Another SDKC club member)
Hyperkite 12 Stack  Ray Miller (Hawaii’s Hyperkite Team Elite)
Single Line Display — Rick Spurgeon (Club member with the middle name FUN)
Ground Crew — Shawn Farrow, Robert Freed, Carol Freed and Diane Spurgeon
All post event news will be provided to the club at an in person meeting. We will celebrate together with a round of high fives.

Yucca Valley Community Fly – The city is asking us to show up and fly with their community. There is talk about compensation for each of our volunteer pilots and an honorarium for the club to help fund raise. More news on this later if we get the job. We will be seeking volunteers for this event in the very near future.
