May Monthly Meeting

Saturday, May 13, Tecolote Shores, Mission Bay, Map If You Need It

Time: Fly All Day, Meeting Noon’ish Sharp

Lunch: Almost Certainly. Want to he a HERO and arrange lunch for the club? Yes the Club will pay reasonable costs to cover lunch. Let Iris know at treasurer@sandiegokiteclub.com

Ocean Beach Kite Festival 2023

Saturday, May 20, Robb Field, Ocean Beach, Map If You Need It

Time: Festival Hours Listed as 10 – 3.

Lunch: I would plan on being on your own. Some years they have food there, others not so be prepared.

Activities: The Kiwanis and other groups support kite making for the kids. Our job is mostly flying kites, talking about kites with the peoples, and kite wrangling (helping kids and families who may be having trouble with their kites). We also generally need volunteers to help with events like flying demos, candy drop, tail chase etc. Parking is generally easy to find if you don’t get there to late.

April General Meeting

Saturday, April 8, Seaport Village, Embarcadero Park North,  Map If You Need It

Time: 10 – 3 are the target hours but you can always do more!

Lunch: I would plan on lunch on yourself, but hey plenty of places to eat at Seaport Village!

Activity: Fly Kites, Eat, Fly Kites
In honor of April being National Kite Month the folks at Kite Flite have asked us to fly at Seaport Village for our April Meeting. Parking is a bit of an issue but Kite Flite will validate parking for SDKC members which get you a couple free hours and a bit of a discount on any extra hours so not so bad. This will be mostly a single line event ( and low flying at that) but there could be a bit of multiline of short lines. Kite Flite has supported us with raffle prizes on the past so now is a chance to give back a little. Hope to see you there!

Kite Party 19

March 11 – 12, 2023, Huntington Beach PierMap If You Need It.

The SDKC General Meeting is moved to March 18 so members can attend both KP and the monthly meeting. See below

More info at www.kiteparty.com

Be sure to read the guidelines!!
Limited registrations available, limited by the City I believe.
Previous attendees get priority but you can’t be a  previous attendee next  year if you don’t try and RSVP this year.
Only register is you are sure you can go. Non flying significant others do not need to be registered, don’t use up spaces un-necessarily. If it turns out you can’t go un-expectantly be sure to cancel your RSVP.

If you don’t get an RSVP it can still be worth going. Lots of things to see and great flyers to watch. Also, it is a big beach you can still fly nearby to get your fix, just not in the roped off areas.
