Saturday, July 11th San Diego Kite Club 36 Year Anniversary Fly.
Date: Saturday, July 11th
Event Location: Coronado Cays Park (Permitted for all of Field 1 and 2)
Time: 11am to 4pm but stay as long as you like and feel free to show up early.
12:00pm Potluck: The potluck is a tradition so if you are coming please try to bring something. The club will provide plenty of trash bags, plates, napkins and utensils. There is no list of what to bring, just bring something to chew on or drink…
12:30 Meeting: This year we will feature a longer than normal meeting. We will start with a 10 to 15 minutes speech by Ziggy (club president), sponsor spotlight, volunteer appreciation spotlight and board member positions are up for election.
Extra Notes:
- When you arrive on the filed be sure to stop at the registration booth before setting up your first kite. Put your things down and get comfortable but please make an effort to sign in if you are a member, visitor or becoming a member. We will collect membership fees for new and existing members.
- This year we will be featuring a massive fundraiser at the clubs new merchandise booth and a silent auction space to bid on some of the best pieces in our inventory. We are looking for support this year. Help us clear out our inventory while scoring some awesome kites for cheap.
- Board position are up for election. This year we will have a President, Secretary, Equipment Manager and Web Master(s) all open for the taking.
We have 3 charitable events happening with San Diego Park and Recreation Department. Let us know if you want to join our volunteers. We can always use more help.
San Diego Park and Recreation Department – July 7th and July 9th
The City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department has also reached out to us regarding three local events in July through their Therapeutic Recreation Services program. We’ve supported these events in the past, and they are always very mellow, meaningful days of flying. We assist participants of varying ages and abilities in flying kites. Our founder, Dan Willan, is especially passionate about our involvement in these events and I am as well. If you are able to attend one or more of the dates below, please contact me and share which dates you are interested in volunteering for. It would mean a lot, and we are looking for 4 volunteers for each event.
Dates: July 7th and 9th
Time: 1:20 PM – 3:00 PM (tentative)
Location: 1100 W Mission Bay Dr., 92109 (Bonita Cove/Mariner’s Point)
Participants: 60 (most will want to fly)
Staff: 20 (subject to change)
Volunteers: Currently 26
Expectations: Fun, inclusive, relaxing, and educational
