The 20th Annual Up Up And Away Kite Festival at the Seal Beach Pier was Sunday October 16, 2016.
It would be fair to say that this year was a bit of a transitional year for the festival since the Japan America Society split off to hold their own event.
Those of us that attended were not sure what to expect but we all agreed that the event was a great success! Lots of fiyers attended and lots of color in the sky, The wind started out low and built all day without getting out of hand. There were quite a number of ‘civilian’ flyers and spectators on hand. Free kites were given out to kids.
The San Diego Kite Club was well represented and again this year supplied the kite and candy for the Candy Drops. There were three Candy Drops with a total of 12 pounds of candy dropped. CAANNDYY AWAAAYY!!
Congratulations to Glen Rothstein, Up Up and Away Kite Store and Club for a great event. They expect next years event to be even better so pencil this in on your calendar NOW!
