Lighthouse and Lightship Event

LIGHTHOUSE AND LIGHTSHIP WEEKEND SPECIAL EVENT SUMMARY

The Convair/220 club will be activating the Old Point Loma Lighthouse Saturday, August 20, 2016 and Sunday, August 21, 2016 as Special Event Station W6L. This will be our fourth year activating the Old Point Loma Lighthouse (US 0067).

We will also activate the Cabrillo National Monument (MN 09) as a PARKS ON THE AIR station.

Setup will start at 9 AM and operating will be from 10 AM to 4 PM. The stations will be packed up starting at 4 PM and we will exit the park by 5 PM each day.

We will have at least two stations. One will be W6SDO’s station on 20 meters with up to 500 watts into a quarter wave length vertical. The second will be AF6HF’s station on 40 meters with a dipole antenna (designed and built by Bob KG6EJW) mounted on a 30 foot push-up pole.

This year we plan to add a bicycle mobile station operating on 20 meters as well as a satellite station (Nestor K6JTT) for a little added fun and variety.

The club will provide drinks and donuts. We will have some chairs for operators and visitors. Bring extra chairs if you can.

This is a well-attended event with operators and visitors from virtually all of the area Amateur Radio Clubs. Everyone is welcome to operate the station – there is plenty of seat time for everyone.

If you have any questions contact Bob (W6SDO) or Mert (AF6HF). Visit the CONVAIR/220 web site for pictures from previous years and the complete event operating plan. See you there!
