Veuve Cliequot Polo Classic Los Angeles 2013

Will Rogers State Park Pacific Palisades

Once again SDKC has been asked to support this event by flying their official Veuve Cliequot Kites prior to the event. The club gets paid for this, in fact it is the single biggest fundraiser for the club for the year.

With that in mind we are looking for 6 – 8 volunteers to attend this all day event. Volunteers need to leave San Diego fairly early in order to get to the event with plenty of time to set up large somewhat complicated box kites. Then we fly them up until the beginning of the match. Last they must be put away again. The location and wind (or lack thereof) is fairly challenging from a flying standpoint.

Things learned last year: Bring water and snacks; don’t bother bringing kites – they only want theirs flown; lunch will probably be provided, parking is a challenge – plan on carpooling and taking a shuttle once there; if you have some favorite heavy line and winder you might want those; gloves aren’t a bad idea; Polo is a dumb sport (webapprentice’s opinion); you might see someone famous.
